A quiet beeping interrupts my dreams and I slowly open my eyes to look at the dark room. Damn, I'd dozed off! I glance at my watch and to see the glowing display show 11:56. I wondered how cold my toes needed to be in order to fall off as they slapped the cold, wet pavement. Chances are, they were pretty close. The day of the league-wide VSA swim meet dawned cloudy and freezing cold. Now, this wasn't too much of a problem in the steaming, heated pool, but out in the air, multiple heated blankets and/or crackling fires were needed just to maintain blood circulation. Why Bucket Lists Make Me Hopeful and Sad

Yet I still wrote myself one. On one hand, I love bucket lists. It's great to have a set of ultimate goals, and I think that you can really tell a lot about a person by looking at their bucket list. But on the other hand, they make me sad, because there's the fact that... I might not attain everything on this list. And will I be looking at it when I die and thinking, "my life is a wreck because I couldn't do thisWhy didn't I do this? Does that mean I've failed?"
